While Joe loved many things, his favorite of all was spending time with his family and friends he will be remembered as a skilled storyteller, gracious host, and colorful conversationalist. Joe spent many relaxing hours outdoors, most often smoking a good cigar and working in his garden. He had an interest and appreciation for history, with a coin collection just as rare as he was. Joe was a volunteer for the Connecticut Auxiliary State Police for several years, serving in the Bethany barracks and called numbers weekly at the Mount Carmel bingo games. With his exceptional mechanical aptitude, he was able to repair just about anything, and often helped neighbors and friends without a second thought. After returning home from the service, Joe owned and operated the former Joe’s Service Station in Town Plot for many years and worked as a Machining Center Operator at Pratt and Whitney. Joe was a proud veteran, serving his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. A lifelong resident of Town Plot, he was a graduate of Leavenworth High School. Joseph was born May 9, 1929, in Waterbury, son of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Saccomanno) DiManno. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Panzarella) DiManno. Joseph DiManno, age 93 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully July 7, 2022, at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
